Reynaers curtain walling solutions set up at Washington Leisure Centre

Reynaers has supplied aluminium curtain walling and doors to a contemporary £11 million leisure facility in Sunderland.

The multi-purpose leisure facility includes pools, a health suite and wellness centre, a soft play area across two levels and an outdoor floodlit synthetic football pitch; all interconnected through the use of thoughtfully positioned glazed areas from Reynaers.

Architects Watson Batty utilised a combination of timber and insulated composite cladding panels, in addition to sedum roofing to blend the building into its surroundings of Princess Anne Park. The architects also incorporated Reynaers’ Vision 50 doors and CW 50 and CW 50-SC curtain walling.

Washington Leisure Centre provides a range of facilities including a six-lane 25m pool and a learner pool with two hydro slides, a four-court sports hall and sauna and steam rooms, as well as a multi purpose hall suitable for high-level trampoline training.

Ideal for high traffic, ground floor environments,  Vision 50 non-insulated flush doors provide an “ideal combination of premium performance and ease of production” according to Reynaers, with anti-finger traps for added safety.

The company’s CW 50 curtain walling system, and the CW 50-SC structurally clamped variant, were also specified for design freedom and maximum transparency.
