NHIC Annual Awards

Next week I am a guest at the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) Annual Awards luncheon in London on Thursday 17th November. Baroness Maddock will be presenting the Awards and we will include a full report about the winners on Buildingtalk.

The NHIC encourage the vibrant, energy efficient modernisation and renovation of all homes in the private and social housing sector.  Since 1974 the prestigious NHIC Annual Awards have recognised achievement in improving UK housing stock.

Dr Peter Bonfield OBE FREng, Chief Executive of BRE

I am also looking forward to listening to Dr Peter Bonfield, Chief Executive of BRE will be the principal speaker. Peter was awarded an OBE back in 2012 for services to research and innovation in the construction industry. He is the Chairman of the Review of Consumer Protection, Advice, Standards and Enforcement for UK Housing Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. Hopefully we will have an update to the ‘Every Home Counts’ report that he has help prepare for the Government.

Dr Bonfield has said that the NHIC Awards have played in encouraging contributing innovation that will help us address the need to improve existing housing stock if the UK is to stand any chance to meet the 2050 target set by Government, which commits us to an 80 per cent reduction in carbon.

Anna Scothern, Executive Director at the NHIC said that the prestigious National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) Annual Awards enable the home improvement industry to showcase its talent for innovation.

Tickets for the awards luncheon on Thursday 17th November 2016 are available by contacting [email protected] or telephoning 02074483853.
