Gilberts Blackpool has developed a combined rooflight and rooftop penthouse terminal to reduce build and operational costs whist ensuring the internal environment below benefits from natural daylight and ventilation.
Both key requirements for eco-friendly building strategies, the combined rooflight and ventilation system has already been fitted on a number of developments, including Liverpool University’s Jordan Building, Athlone Institute of Technology and Sandringham School’s sports hall.
Available in both standard or bespoke designs, the system encompasses glass or polycarbonate glazing and can be fitted in both new build and refurbishment schemes.
Gilberts’ technical director Roy Jones elaborates on the system: “Every building requires natural light and ventilation, and the roof is the most effective location for those ‘openings’. Any penetration through the roof opens it up for potential issues such as air leakage, water and weather ingress. If the number of penetrations can be kept to a minimum, construction, and longer-term maintenance and repair, costs and time are reduced.”
Gilberts’ range of roof turrets deliver air intake and extraction as required and can be developed to bespoke size requirements from 300mm x 300mm x 300mm upwards. Further customisation options include internal partitions and dampers to enable full and accurate air control and bespoke design options.
Manufactured from aluminium, the terminals can be powder-coated to any BS/RAL colour. I provide 50 percent free area and are weather rated to Class A.
