Bicester Village undergoes major expansion with Cembrit PB

  • 15 Dec 2016

Bicester Village is currently undergoing a major extension to add extra shopping space and car parking, using Cembrit PB as a render-backer on the exterior façades, set to be complete in January 2017.

The development will add an additional twenty eight shops and over 500 parking spaces. As part of the ongoing works, Stockford Construction has installed 800m2 of Cembrit PB to the steel frame structure and encapsulated it with the weatherproof MonoTherm TXF system, manufactured and supplied by Monocouche Render Systems.

Cembrit PB is a lightweight and durable board which offers a solid base for render. It can also be used for tiling due to its excellent adhesive properties. The boards benefit from a reduced weight in comparison to stone, block and concrete due to the inclusion of polystyrene beading.

For a simpler installation, Cembrit PB can be scored and snapped rather than mechanically cut, meaning the project could be undertaken whilst the shopping village remained open.

The board’s double-wrapped structure ensures maximum stability at the butt joints and long-lasting protection over the lifetime of the installation. In addition, Cembrit PB has been strengthened with nylon mesh, a reinforced chamfered edge and is tried and tested in all climates across North America and Europe.

The highly resistant board impedes both fungus and mould to sustain a durable and healthy environment.
