Gilberts of Blackpool has delivered natural ventilation for a new café, in Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake.
Designed by architect Aedas, the building’s monopitch, wooden structure complements the theatre’s natural, lakeside location; large windows have been fitted to introduce natural light into the café. At its highest point, the building measures an impressive 35 feet.
Gilberts of Blackpool was contracted to provide natural ventilation for the build.
The company developed a solution centring on three of its Mistrale WHF75 flanged high weather performance louvres. The system was integrated high into a wall behind the kitchen area, at the lowest point of the roof.
Developed to deliver smooth and accurate airflow, Mistrale is a core component of Gilberts’ air movement portfolio. Each louvre supplied to the café features VN75 volume control dampers; one includes an LPHW coil to make up air to the kitchen extract.
Mistrale 75 has been built to achieve U-values of 0.96W/m2/K and air leakage less than 5m3/hr/m2; the WHF louvres’ blades are at a 75mm pitch, which ensures a free ventilation area of 50%. By combining the two, Gilberts has created a high performance natural ventilation solution with Class A weatherability.
