Travertine walling at Hampton by Hilton Oxford

Travertine walling blocks specified for Oxford hotel

Aggregate Industries was recently contracted to provide Travertine walling products for Hampton by Hilton Oxford, a contemporary, new-build hotel.

As the project’s primary contractor, J F Finnegan contacted Aggregate Industries with a brief to supply a masonry block, capable of complementing the natural stone Ashlar walling and white render finish being used in the build.

Aggregate’s Building Products team specified Travertine in the shade Limestone Buff, and proceeded to send samples to the contractor.

Travertine has been designed to offer an alternative to natural stone: working with a mould from natural stone masters, Aggregate was able to create authentic surface pits and troughs on its surface.

As per the brief’s requirements, the company manufactured 800 square metres of Travertine. Limestone Buff was chosen because of its blended shades; from a distance, it appears to be solid colour, whilst its mottled effect creates a striking contrast with the white render on closer inspection.

The system offers the aesthetic benefits of natural stone, whilst remedying its practical disadvantages. For instance, its high-density composition prevents moisture ingress, whilst natural stone is subject to deterioration via weathering.

Travertine is available in quoin blocks, 219mm x 444mm walling blocks, return ends and 219mm x 219mm half blocks. It is suitable for both commercial and domestic applications.
