New Flat Roof Overlay Board from ROCKWOOL

  • 6 Feb 2017

Contractors have been provided with a single solution, suited to many applications by ROCKWOOL Ltd, a leader in stone wool insulation, following their launch of the Flat Roof Overlay Board, a versatile refurbishment solution that is compatible with all common membrane types.

Specifically designed to simplify the repair and refurbishment of flat roof systems, the ROCKWOOL Flat Roof Overlay Board has been produced from volcanic rock and manufactured with high density ROCKWOOL stone wool insulation. Therefore, it is exceptionally durable combined with excellent dimensional stability – the 30mm board provides optimum thermal, fire and acoustic properties.

The ROCKWOOL Flat Roof Overlay Board is a stone wool board that has been engineered to last the lifetime of the roof system and can be compatible with a wide range of membranes, including torch applied bitumen, GRP, Liquid Waterproofing, Singly Ply and EPDM.

Contractors can be extra flexible when seeing the best product for a wide range of repair and maintenance applicators due to the versatility.

The ROCKWOOL Flat Roof Overlay Board is ideal for both domestic and commercial projects as it provides a high quality, smooth flat finish to existing roofs and absorb uneven surfaces.

The product is easy to cut, shape and install as it is incredibly lightweight and can be applied using either adhesive or mechanical fixings. A strong bond is provided between the membrane and insulation, thanks to an integral mineral fibre fleece.

The Overlay Board provides a natural fire barrier that can reduce the spread of fire, as demonstrated by its A1Euroclass fire classification and is FM Approved, perfect for larger commercial and industrial roof refurbishment. Due to the fact that the product reduces heat loss through the roof system, which can help to lower energy bills, the thermal performance is increased and capable of achieving 0.039 W/mK lambda value.

The Overlay Board features additional acoustic benefits that will reduce unwanted noise pollution, as well as providing excellent thermal and fire resistance. Therefore, the improved acoustic management will support a better, quieter, and healthier living or working environment.

The product is proven to improve the acoustic performance of an existing flat roofing system by up to 47%, after being tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 10410.
