Explore offsite build at Ecobuild

  • 7 Feb 2017

With the housing shortage set to get worse before it gets better, the UK Government, in its latest White Paper, has announced plans to utilise offsite build technology to help build 100,000 modular homes over the course of this Parliament.

So it is a timely co-incidence that a series of masterclass seminars at Ecobuild 2017 will explore the role offsite construction technology will play in tackling the housing crisis and the efficient delivery of infrastructure projects

Explore Offsite at Ecobuild

The focus at Ecobuild 2017 (7 -9 March 2017 at Excel London) will be on innovative solutions to help build better communities. As part of the event, Ecobuild is partnering with the organisers of the Explore Offsite series of events and conferences to deliver a focused exhibition zone and series of offsite masterclasses.

The Offsite Hub, a three-day seminar programme and exhibition at Ecobuild, will help visitors learn more about the opportunities offered by offsite technology in the future of construction.

Seminars will take place alongside exhibitions showcasing each of the six main types of offsite construction – modular volumetric; steel; timber; concrete; roofing and MEP/pods.

Offsite build in the education sector

With the UK also facing a potential shortage of primary school places, Explore Offsite at Ecobuild will feature the latest innovations in the use of offsite construction to create additional classrooms or add storeys to existing school buildings.

Visitors will be able to see how extensions can be manufactured away from the building and craned into place in a matter of weeks – offering a sustainable choice by reducing vehicle journeys and increasing efficiency.

Martin Hurn, brand director at Ecobuild, commented: “Offsite is clearly the future of construction technology, and it’s happening now. Offsite presents many opportunities for the private and public sectors.”

Regeneration  at Ecobuild

This year, the theme at Ecobuild is Regeneration and the event includes an ‘immersive city’, complete with main street, distinct destinations and special feature attractions. Alongside a major exhibition showcasing new products, Ecobuild will host a conference about growth, collaboration and economic advantage for a more sustainable future, plus CPD accredited seminars on sustainability, green infrastructure and building performance.

Buildingtalk at Ecobuild

Buildingtalk will be reporting from the event on what’s new in building. If you are exhibiting and have something interesting or innovative being showcased, do be in touch via news@buildingtalk.com and we’ll come and have a look.
