Cembrit Contessa natural slates dominating the skyline

Cembrit Contessa natural slates have been installed on an exquisitely designed home in South West London as it is crowned with a multi-faceted roof turret that dominates the area’s skyline.

The double-storey residential property is situated on Roehampton Lane and had an old leaky roof, which was refurbished a few years ago, leaving only the turret to be restored. The Contessa slate is easy to cut and lay and provides a finish that matches the unique roof top feature, ideal for the curved and steep turret.

Due to the complexity of the project and the aesthetics of the property, the project has been entered in the UK Roofing Awards.

1,500 Cembrit Contessa slates were installed by G.S. Roofing, on the turret of the property. The textured surface of the Contessa slates complemented the rustic appearance of the house. G.S. Roofing cut some of the slates into a diamond shape and fit them alongside the normal shaped slates in order to add an extra dimension to the design of the turret.

G.S. Roofing’s Manager, Mark Bennett explained that the versatile structure of Cembrit Contessa slates, and the ability to cut the natural material easily, combined with first class service from Cembrit’s London team helped to complete the installation issue-free.

Produced by some of the most efficient quarries in Spain, Contessa’s natural slates are available in blue/black and grey and come in a variety of sizes. Attractive and long lasting roofs can be achieved with the textures surface of the slates. With the potential to last the lifetime of the building, Contessa slates are strong enough to withstand weather conditions and are unaffected by sunlight, ultraviolet light and acid rain.
