The Silavent HRX-aQ Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) appliance from Polypipe Ventilation, is a finalist in the Domestic Ventilation Product of the Year category in the H&V News Awards.
In their 23rd year, the H&V News Awards take place annually and celebrate excellence, forward thinking and the highest achievements across the building services industry, covering the entire HVAC and building services supply chain.
The popularity of this year’s awards meant that making it onto the shortlist was a major achievement. Polypipe Ventilation believes that they made it onto the shortlist because of the product’s ability to intelligently manage air conditions, for maximum homeowner comfort.
Occupants’ comfort levels can vary significantly with properties coming in different design styles, fabrics, locations and orientations. Polypipe Ventilation designed HRX-aQ to take these factors into account, matching ventilation rates to the internal environment and occupants’ requirements for maximum comfort. Additionally, it is also the quietest and most compact Silavent MVHR unit available.
Advanced Air Management for Indoor Environments (AMIE) technology has allowed Polypipe Ventilation to achieve this with features such as digital humidity control, automated summer bypass and accurate system balancing.
Occupants can have direct control over managing the humidity levels in their home with the HRX-aQ and due to its ability to automatically change from background to boost as the level of humidity increases, it provides optimal ventilation performance.
Programmable by occupants based on time or temperature, the HPX-aQ features advanced bypass control. The MVHR units, when in standard mode, work by warming fresh air drawn into the building using the heat from waste stale air extracted from the kitchen and wet rooms.
The silavent HRX-aQ, in conjunction with multiple time controlled bypass options, also detects when air temperature reaches a pre-set level and intelligently activates the bypass mechanism allowing in cooler, fresh and filtered air.
A compact Bluebrain control is used to control these features, also providing homeowners with helpful maintenance reminders for cleaning and replacing filters to ensure performance of the unit is maximised and air quality maintained.
The new HRX-aQ is extremely efficient; when used with a kitchen and one wet room, a typical installation, it provides an 88% heat exchange performance and boasts a very low Specific Fan Powder down to 0.66w/(1/s). Therefore, the property is provided with a lower Dwelling Emission Rate and additional project SAP points.
Eight HRX-aQ models are available to suit a wide range of residential properties, including units with a specialist heat exchanger technology to further improve air quality and provide comfortable humidity levels.
