Pilkington UK Ltd has collaborated with the NBS National BIM Library to make its commercial IGU products and Pilkington PlanarTM structural glazing models available online for architects and specifiers.
Building Information Modelling aims to improve decision making and make the design and construction of buildings more efficient and more cost-effective. BIM also helps to model the performance of a building by providing users with detailed information about each building product.
Comprehensive product information for Pilkington’s high performance solar control, thermal insulation glass products and its structural glazing systems are available on the National BIM Library.
Jason Eggerton, project specification manager at Pilkington said “BIM is a government initiative that ensures each building product used within a design is embedded with its own bespoke data, making the specification process quicker and easier, it facilitates a fully collaborative approach to construction and can even allow architects to walk clients through a project in a virtual environment before it is built.”
He also explains that it is crucial that Pilkington products are made BIM-ready as the industry evolves, helping customers to make more informed decisions and help them to identify areas for improved efficiencies and cost savings moving forward.
The NBS National BIM Library is the fastest-growing BIM library in the UK, featuring an extensive collection of BIM objects that range from building fabric systems to mechanical and electrical objects.
