Minimising impact and airborne noise is now a key consideration for office to residential conversion projects, and combining low-profile, high-performance underfloor heating with built-in acoustic properties is an effective, space-saving solution.
Nu-Heat was recently tasked with the design and supply of an underfloor heating system for an apartment conversion project in Paddington, London. The project involved the conversion of a period office building to 14 apartments and 3 penthouses.
The underfloor heating system had to be low-profile in order to reduce disruption to fixtures and fittings, with a high heat output suitable for adequately heating a large, period property with high ceilings and suspended timber floors. Most importantly, the specified system also needed to provide a reduction in airborne and impact noise between floors.
Nu-Heat’s latest product, AcoustiPanelTM14, features underfloor heating and acoustic performance in a unique single floor deck that is efficient, controllable, responsive and precise with low running costs.
It also has fast heat transfer and high performance heat output of up to 96W/m2; can assist in exceeding Part E requirements; and can achieve up to 3 BREEAM credits when correctly installed as part of an acoustic floor cassette.
At just a 31mm high build up and being ultra-smooth with a low deflection surface, AcoustiPanelTM14 maximises ceiling height to emphasise light and space, and is ideal for high quality floor finishes including large format tiles and marble.
In addition, it is a fully tailored design that incorporates bespoke, interlocking tongue and groove panels for optimal heating and pipework layouts.
AcoustiPanelTM14 was the ideal solution for Norman House, meeting all requirements and being perfectly suited to the required luxury floor finishes that are synonymous with projects of this quality. Nu-Heat specified and supplied AcoustiPanelTM14 for the apartments and penthouses, 784m2 in total.
