Schlüter-Systems has reported successful results of its most recent impact sound reduction tests on its latest uncoupling membrane for crack-free tile and stone.
As a result of the tests, Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT-TB has been rebranded as DITRA-HEAT-DUO, in recognition of its ability to provide both thermal breaking and impact sound reduction. The test confirmed an impact sound reduction of up to 13dB – a perceived 50 per cent reduction by the human ear.
In terms of thermal break credentials, DITRA-HEAT-DUO pushes 80% of its input to the surface during the heat-up phase, whereas alternative systems can lose up to half of the heat into the screed or subfloor.
DITRA-HEAT-DUO is a universal substrate for tile and stone coverings, that offers a total of seven features that together aid the construction process, protect the building fabric and improve privacy for occupants. The product serves as a bonded waterproofing, uncoupling, crack bridging and vapour pressure equalisation layer.
It is also designed for the attachment of heating cables as part of the Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT-E electrical underfloor heating system.
DITRA-HEAT-DUO comprises a polypropylene membrane with a cut back stud structure, with a unique 2mm anchoring fleece laminated on the underside. It can be installed on floors or walls as part of a complete DITRA-HEAT-E system.
