Novus Property Solutions has reconnected two parts of the site at Royal Stoke University Hospital with an elevated walkway repair project.
The bridge connecting the Clinical Education Centre and Lyme Building at the University Hospitals of North Midlands hospital was in desperate need of repair. Novus began working on the repair of the bridge in October 2016.
Novus operatives used fully encapsulated scaffold to provide both a safe place for the team to work and to protect the general public throughout the project. The team also factored in a comprehensive road and traffic plan, plus a pedestrian diversion for the project’s duration.
The team started by removing the existing lighting from the bridge, which was sent away to be refurbished and fitted with new LED lighting.
A high performance anti-corrosion paint was applied in blue satin finish from RUST-OLEUM by Novus operatives, to prevent the bridge from rusting further.
The walkway surface also required attention and was blasted before being treated with a highly durable anti-slip finish.
January 2017 saw the completion of work on the bridge, enabling staff and visitors to Royal Stoke University Hospital to safely pass between CEC and the Lyme Lower Building for years to come.
Novus co-ordinated the challenging project well and Novus operatives worked in a sensitive manner throughout to provide staff, patients and visitors with a safe walk way, according to Adam Beech, estates officer at Royal Stoke University.
