Grenfell Tower tragedy: GGF offers support to victims

  • 16 Jun 2017

The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) would like to express its sympathies to all who have been affected by the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in West London.

The Federation’s thoughts are with those victims of the tragedy, which took place earlier this week.

In the aftermath of this terrible event, the GGF has committed itself to supporting the pending investigation, which will aim to identify both the immediate causes of the fire, and the manner in which it spread so rapidly.

The Federation strongly believes that all aspects of fire safety and containment must be considered. Measures must be taken to ensure that multi-occupancy buildings are as fire resistant as possible, in the interest of protecting lives and property.

When it comes to fire safety, the GGF is dedicated to ensuring that any enquiries and future legislation is focused on protecting lives. The Federation is currently writing to all politicians, government authorities and local government bodies to address concerns about fire safety, highlighted by the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

Fire Resistant Glazing Group

The GGF’s dedicated Fire Resistant Glazing Group (FRGG) consists of manufacturers, distributors and installers of fire resistant glazing products.

The Group is committed to achieving optimum fire protection in buildings, by working with the wider fire safety community in the UK. It seeks to meet its objectives by collating and publicising advice from those who work with fire resistant glazing systems.

Following the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the GGF has also established an advisory group, comprising world leading fire safety experts in glass and glazing. These consultants will offer free technical advice and information when required.
