UNION, a division of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, has introduced DoorSense, a battery-operated device which offers a legal solution for keeping fire doors open.
CE marked to EN 1155 standards, DoorSense offers a lawful way for fire doors to be kept open for access, while maintaining the ability to close automatically, should an alarm occur.
The system has been developed to provide greater movement inside a building when necessary, while reacting efficiently and promptly in the event of a fire.
DoorSense is a standalone device, powered by two Alkaline C batteries. To install and activate it, users must open a fire door and push the system’s foot plunger down into the floorplate; the device will then hold the door open to enhance access throughout the building.
Should a fire alarm sound, DoorSense will identify it with acoustic technology and automatically release the foot plunger, allowing the fire door to close via a separate door closer.
As no wiring is required, DoorSense can be retrofitted to doors using older holding mechanisms at a variety of angles. It can be released manually or automatically via the alarm, or by using an integrated night closing timer.
The acoustic technology within the system has been tested over 50,000 cycles to guarantee functionality.
The system is available for specification in three colours: black, white and red.
