SE Controls has launched SECloudlink, a Remote Services solution that provides continual system management for life safety fire and smoke control devices.
With recent reports highlighting the poor maintenance of smoke control systems in some housing association properties, SE Controls has recognised the need to raise standards when it comes to the management life safety systems.
The neglect of vital life safety systems is a major issue, which can have fatal consequences. SE Controls’ SECloudlink has been developed to provide an effective solution to system management issues.
Offering continual system status interrogation, the new Remote Services solution enables SE Controls’ maintenance team to provide scheduled and corrective maintenance when necessary, driven by regulatory demands or notifications that come directly from the smoke control system.
Integrated 4G communications technology enables the system to be constantly monitored, as well as allowing for any adjustments and tuning to ensure it meets the requirements of the building in question.
SECloudlink provides an effective solution for buildings subject to ongoing maintenance, or where existing smoke control systems require regular maintenance to meet certain regulatory standards, such as BS9991, BS9999, BS7346 Part 8, and Building Regulations ADB; BS EN 12101.
The costs of reactive maintenance and servicing, such as sending an engineer to site, often means that smoke and fire safety systems are neglected. Once data has been collected, SECloudlink enables a more proactive and cost effective maintenance regime.
The service can produce management information reports and system performance reports, including historical data for individual sites or a portfolio of buildings. It issues early warnings, highlighting faults, trends and service requirements, and provides documentation to demonstrate building compliance with relevant, legal regulations.
SECloudlink also offers improved efficiency and budget control, reducing the disruption and costs associated with expensive site visits. The technology enables engineers to communicate with systems, and provide on-going support, advice and assistance, without the need to be present on site.
In the event of a fire, the system will operate flawlessly, keeping the escape routes within the building clear of smoke to ease the evacuation process.
The SECloudlink software enables every installation can be monitored remotely, where an SE Controls solution has been installed. This is helpful to contractors who may be responsible for maintenance on several sites across the UK.
Individual rooms can be monitored on a floor-by-floor basis; the system’s graphical interface can be configured to notify SE Controls, or the appointed maintenance contractor, when an issue appears and demands their attention.
Any alert or notification can be addressed on screen, with data logs providing the details of the reported event to assist corrective actions.
The SECloudlink solution has already been implemented on several sites where life safety systems are installed. The resulting benefits to housing association landlords has been significant.
