Gilberts ventilation for Tata Technologies' HQ`

Ventilation specification enhances efficiency at Tata Technologies HQ

  • 3 Jul 2017

Gilberts has supplied ventilation to Tata Technologies’ new headquarters, which is based at Tachbrook Park in Leamington Spa.

Designed by Webb Gray and erected by BAM Construction, the multi-million pound building accommodates Tata Technologies’ engineering services, which are focused on the research and development of emerging technologies for industrial, automotive and aerospace machinery.

The office, which covers a total of 63,000 square feet, has been designed with energy efficiency in mind. Ventilation from Gilberts was fundamental to its achievement of a BREEAM Excellent rating: the company’s external louvres have been integrated into the facade, whilst its linear slot diffusers and extract values work to control internal airflow.

The offices have been designed to be adaptable, allowing internal layouts to change with occupier demand. For Gilberts, the diversity of the building and the BREEAM target made it difficult to devise a comprehensive and compliant ventilation strategy.

Working in conjunction with BAM, Gilberts specified its GSL slot diffusers for use in the meeting rooms and offices. Each slot diffuser features a directional control vane, which ensures an accurate distribution of air; Gilberts offers a choice of slot numbers and widths in each unit, which enabled them to tailor the ventilation system to the Tachbrook facility.

Approximately 135 diffusers have been installed throughout the new headquarters, in lengths of up to 2 metres. Meanwhile, 45 of Gilberts’ GX extract valves have been fitted in open spaces throughout the facility, such as the restaurant and reception area. The valves work to remove stale air, with an adjustable central core operating at up to 200l/s.

The used air is transferred to ceiling voids, where it is channelled towards Gilberts’ WGF38 façade louvres. These provide intake and exhaust facilities.
