The Kingspan Kooltherm K108 Cavity Wall Board has been specified for use on a new residential development in Hendy, North West Swansea.
Offering easy access to the coast and local village facilities, the Cwrt Y Bedw development has been designed with young families and first-time buyers in mind. It comprises a range of two, three and four-bedroom houses – including 19 affordable homes – which are being built by Persimmon Homes West Wales.
A variety of technologies and techniques have been implemented to ensure that the homes are energy efficient; the Kingspan Kooltherm K108 Cavity Board was specified to help the project to meet its thermal performance requirements, with a standard cavity depth enabling a slim construction build-up.
Developed as part of Kingspan’s Kooltherm K100 range, the Kingspan K108 Cavity Board features a phenolic core with a thermal conductivity of 0.018 W/m.K. This enabled the housebuilders to exceed the targeted U-values for the external walls, without encroaching on living space.
The site teams at the Cwrt Y Bedw scheme were impressed with the features of the cavity wall board and the quality of installation achieved.
Approximately 460 square metres of Kingspan Thermapitch TP10 was also fitted on the slated pitched roofs of the new homes, offering a thermal performance of 0.022 W/m∙K.
Both product ranges are manufactured at Kingspan Insulation’s facilities in Pembridge and Selby, using a blowing agent that has both zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and low Global Warming Potential (GWP).
