The historic Jamaica Inn on Bodmin moor in Cornwall has outgrown the original 1750 stone structure and builders AD Williams have been commissioned to create a new extension.
The extension will house 16 new rooms and be located on the Inn’s eastern end.
The project was difficult due to the need to match the heritage architecture combined with the extreme weather conditions, at a height of 280m above sea level.
When Heritage Roofing South West was contracted to apply a matching slate roof to the extension, a reliable membrane offering unrestricted compliance with BS5534:2014 was required. Therefore, 225 square metres of DuPont Tyvek Supro were applied as a robust, high-performance underlay.
Tyvek Supro is straightforward to handle has been proven to perform well after twenty years’ installation due to the material’s 170 micron functional layer.
Tyvek membrane meets all the requirements of Building Regulations (Part L & C) and also BS5534:2014, in all zones, altitudes and conditions. It provides carefully researched and clear guidelines, extensive experience and renowned service, plus the development of a calculation tool for more easily specifying membranes that comply with BS5534.
DuPont Tyvek advanced building membranes are naturally vapour open and durably wind and water-tight. They ave been designed to protect the building envelope against the effects of weather and moisture, this family of membranes also offers optimal air-tightness and can help to improve the thermal performance, energy-efficiency and interior climatic stability of a building.
Tyvek is designed to work as part of a holistic and optimal system with a range of other proven DuPont products for the building envelope. All DuPont building products come with the renowned service, expertise and technical back-up of a world-class science company.
