Megaman’s LEDs illuminate colourful clothes at Benetton store

Megaman’s LEDs were specified for the new store for fashion brand United Colors of Benetton in Northern Ireland, Ballymena.

The solution Megaman provided was energy efficient, low maintenance, aesthetically pleasing, and had a bright quality of light.

Benetton acquired a former post office at 3,000 square feet which was stripped out and a large glazed panel was installed on the front elevation to maximise daylight. The company required the store to be brightly lit to compliment the colourful clothes on display.

It was considered that Megaman’s ZEKI multi-head gimbal luminaires together with other specified products, would provide an even and bright distribution of light.

The ZEKI LEDs create a consistent quality of light with no changes in light levels.”

Megaman’s ZEKI luminaire features a modular frame and multi-directional tilting, allowing easy adjustment. Williams Creative Design Architects specified 56 one head frame 10.5W ZEKI luminaires to be installed in the suspended ceiling throughout the store.

The high lumen and tilted design of the ZEKI luminaire allows flexibility – if the client wants to move display stands around the retail space all he has to do is move the downlight and position it to illuminate the clothes.

Michael Williams concludes: “I like the discreetness of the ZEKI lighting, which is very subtle. The spotlights have been twisted to focus on wall displays and draw attention to the merchandise. I didn’t want the lighting to take the customer’s eye away from the clothes. It has been a very successful project.”
