Tradespeople offered protection against a bad brew

Trade Direct’s ‘Bad Brew Insurance’ offers protection against customers who fail to provide tradespeople, such as builders, plumbers and electricians, with a hot drink while on the job.

Upon investigation, the company discovered that approximately 55% of all customers fail to offer hot drinks to those carrying out construction works on their behalf.

Other research has revealed that 10% of tradespeople consider being made a milky hot drink, or not being made one at all, to be the most annoying aspect of their job.

These statistics have prompted the development of a bespoke policy that allows tradespeople to insure against clients who fail to provide them with a hot drink and access to a kettle.

Tradespeople can also insure themselves against unacceptably weak brews; Trade Direct has produced a downloadable chart, detailing different tea and coffee strengths which can be printed out and given to customers.

The policy offers three levels of cover, ranging from poor taste and temperature to an absence of biscuits. Policy holders can claim by providing visual evidence of a bad brew.

The scheme is currently in its development stage. To finalise the policy, Trade Direct is appealing for both customers and tradesmen to provide feedback on their hot drink experiences.
