DOYMA building solutions specified for university development

  • 21 Aug 2017

Interflow’s DOYMA solutions have been utilised as part of a multi-million pound development at the University of Edinburgh’s Easter Bush Campus.

With its full height atrium space, the innovation centre acts as a gateway to the University’s Easter Bush Campus, which accommodates the renowned Roslin Institute.

Its western side is clad in local stone and boasts a ‘living wall’, while the eastern side of this iconic building appears to float above ground.

The development of the centre will provide researchers and students with specialist facilities, such as teaching laboratories, offices, and a dedicated exhibition space, which will be available for external organisations to use.

It forms part of an ambitious programme of scheduled work at the University.

DOYMA building solutions from Interflow UK were provided to waterproof the centre’s basement, in conjunction with a Sika tanking membrane.

DOYMA installation

Before the manufacturing drawing was prepared, Interflow carried out a site survey as a number of the services penetrations were not perpendicular to the structure.

The resultant manifold had to be manufactured in five sections and then carefully abutted, fixed and sealed on site to ensure the life-long performance was not impaired.

250 diameter pre-insulated district heating pipes and ancillary services were ducted through the specified DOYMA Curaflex 8000/M/T/S 8-way retrofit manifold and Sika membrane.

The DOYMA Curaflex manifold, with Curaflex C gaskets, is guaranteed gastight and watertight for 25 years and is covered by the DOYMA insurance company backed warranty.
