Polyflor has donated 90 square metres of its Polysafe Wood fx PUR safety flooring to the new Salford Institute for Dementia Hub at the University of Salford.
Designed by Day Architectural, with help from people living with dementia, the dedicated hub provides public access to the latest research and ideas about living with the condition.
Built to the latest dementia-friendly designs, the centre features a garden and a special kitchen. It also acts as a working base for the University of Salford’s dementia associates and researchers.
Polyflor, a longstanding partner of the University’s International Dementia Design Network, donated its Polysafe Wood fx PUR safety flooring to the project.
The flooring was supplied in the shade Oiled Oak and fitted by Flooring Supply Centre, Liverpool. It is frequently specified for care home and healthcare developments, because of its wet slip-resistant properties and ability to resist heavy footfall.
The range includes 12 wood effect designs. Polysafe PUR polyurethane reinforcement provides cleaning benefits and aesthetic enhancements, whilst the collection’s slip-resistance is guaranteed by its achievement of 36+ on the Pendulum Wet Test.
In addition, the flooring is completely recyclable through the Recofloor vinyl take back scheme.
Polyflor is dedicated to demonstrating how interior spaces can be made more dementia-friendly through design and flooring specification.
Since contributing to the dementia hub project, it has forged a close relationship with the Salford Institute for Dementia; together, they have produced a Specialist Care brochure, which provides details on Polyflor’s dementia-friendly flooring ranges.
The company is also a proud member of Dementia Action Alliances.
