Digital Construction Week announces conference programme

  • 25 Aug 2017

Thought leaders from across the architecture, engineering, construction, and operations industry will discuss the sector’s digital future at this year’s Digital Construction Week

Scheduled to take place from 18th–19th October at London’s ExCeL, Digital Construction Week 2017 will host a range of exhibitors and interactive workshops and features.

At the heart of the event is a conference, featuring free seminar streams, which has been organised in conjunction with the government’s Digital Built Britain (DBB) strategy.

The seminars will cover the event’s key areas – BIM, Tech, Industry 4.0, Visualisation and Geospatial – whilst the conference programme offers a wealth of speaker sessions.

Conference speakers

Drawing on his experiences with Crossrail, Andrew Wolstenholme, CEO, Crossrail, and co-chair of the Construction Leadership Council, will explore the future of the built environment, and the role that innovation and technology can play in tackling industry-wide challenges.

Alex Lubbock, Head of Digital Construction, Infrastructure Projects Authority, Cabinet Office, will share the UK government’s approach to digital adoption and implementation, providing an insight into why BIM Level 3 has gained support from those in office.

‘The Future Will See You Now: AI for Design and Build’ will be hosted by Mike Haley, Head of Machine Intelligence at Autodesk. In the session Mike will explain how applying immense computation to large data-sets in the cloud can create design possibilities in the built world.

Elsewhere, Anthony Buckley-Thorp, Managing Partner at Flux FAST Team, and James Moore, Strategic Account Manager at Google Cloud Platform (GCP), will reveal how Google Cloud’s Flux platform can be used to develop bespoke digital applications and technology, in partnership with global architecture, engineering and construction firms.

In his session, Simon Rawlinson, Head of Strategic Research & Insight, Arcadis / Construction Leadership Council, will ask why the industry is still discussing the potential for off-site manufacture and BIM, as oppose to embedding these processes as business as usual.
