Enrol now to become a hardware professional

  • 8 Sep 2017

The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers has introduced a new prospectus showcasing the education programme to aspiring architectural ironmongers, locksmiths and builders’ merchant staff.

The 2017/18 education programme is now open for enrolment with over 450 learners expected on the programme this year.

This syllabus has changed majorly due to the Guild now getting just under half of learners from overseas. Therefore, it is crucial that students are able to access modules and resources from across the globe.

Rachel Tipton, training and development manager, says: “The GAI education syllabus is the only recognised programme in the world that leads to a qualification in architectural ironmongery to British and European standards. The programme meets the expectations of today’s learning environment, and the constant evolution of the courses ensures that all of our learners have all the support they need, whenever they need it.”

The course covers door hardware products, standards and the basics of access control and then a final exam that can be retaken as many times as needed.

The next stage is the Certificate in Architectural Hardware. Which covers different products, includes the basics of hardware components and scheduling and continues to focus on products but provides more in-depth knowledge of products and scheduling.

Students can then progress on to the GAI Diploma, which focuses on the skills and learning for scheduling, crucial for those working on projects being built to UK and European standards worldwide.
