Closomat has helped increase accessibility in a new store in Leeds that is the first of its kind, providing daily living aids and mobility products.
The Unlimited Company has begun a programme of creating stores with a fresh approach, piloting concepts to help customers with accessible kitchens and bathrooms, a demonstration and area and an in-house Occupational Therapist for consultations.
The store also features a Changing Places assisted accessible toilet. The Unlimited Company’s head of buying Craig Aquilina, explains: “The intention is to make the shopping experience easier for our customers. The nature of our business is such that people tend to spend longer in store, so may well need to visit the toilet.”
Closomat supplied and installed the Changing Places toilet to enable anyone who needs help to go to the toilet to do so, with the space and equipment required.
Changing Places has been designed to accommodate the user and up to two carers, and further includes additional equipment- particularly a ceiling track hoist and height-adjustable, adult-sized changing bench.
In addition, the conventional WC has been replaced with a Closomat Palma Vita wash & dry toilet. The Palma Vita looks like and is capable of being used as a conventional toilet but with the ability to clean users with douching and drying built in.
Under Building Regulations, and British Standards, a Changing Places toilet is desirable in large buildings to which the public have access.
You can find calling cards, CAD blocks, videos, case studies and information including white papers on the Closomat website, free for download.
