Keystone provides the ideal lintel solution

  • 15 Sep 2017

As the single most influential contributing factors in heat loss, it is essential that specified lintels are robust and provide structural support.

Keystone‘s Hi-therm Lintel is a lost cost solution to reduce carbon emissions and improve TFEE rate. Hi-therm can be a viable alternative to expensive sustainable solutions that helps improve the building fabric, reduce CO2 emissions and acts as a lintel.

Hi-therm is more thermally efficient and more corrosion resistant than stainless steel lintels, making it suitable for any coastal project.

Due to a much lower conductivity than steel, at 0.3 w/mK as opposed to approximately 17.0 w/mK, the Psi Value applied by the lintels to the calculations for this thermal bridge may be reduced to 0.05 w/mK or lower. As a result, the lintels reduce the buildings overall thermal bridging by up to 34%.news-hi-therm_Fotor

Hi-therm is a one-piece sustainable lintel solution. The Hi-therm lintel bonds the internal and external walls together by spanning the intervening gap with a thermal break plate and contributes towards the achievement of the Target Fabric Energy Efficiency standards required.

The Hi-therm lintel utilises a two-piece construction with a galvanised steel component supporting the inner blockwork connected to a GRP component supporting the outer brickwork.hi-therm-howitworks_Fotor

Hi-therm can be installed exactly as a regular cavity lintel, bridging the cavity with no extra components needed and no extra labour – saving time and money. Further savings are made as Hi-therm does not require a DPC layer. The insulation, which is factory fitted within Hi-therm, also helps ensure consistent continually of cavity wall insulation without any thermal breaks.

Hi-therm is significantly more thermally efficient than a standard cavity lintel achieving PSI values of just 0.05 w/mK. A PSI value certificate can be produced for your specific cavity build up for free via the Keystone lintels website.
