Press Brake

New press brake for Gilberts as business booms

  • 29 Sep 2017

Gilberts Blackpool has further grown its fabrication capacity with the installation of a new press brake, as demand rises with an ever increasing order book.

The new machinery will double the capability for Britain’s leading independent air movement specialist to bend sheet metal at its headquarters.

Gilberts’ sales director Ian Rogers explains how the press brake works in tandem with the new laser cutter that was introduced earlier this year.

“The press brake works hand-in-hand with the laser cutter, one giving us faster, more accurate cutting of metal, the other processing what has been cut,” he said.

“The growth is such that, to meet demand, we need to invest in technology to give us enhanced productivity, with accuracy, to ensure that our customer service remains at the high levels we historically deliver for our clients.”

The new Rico press brake is claimed to reduce wastage from deformation during processing by up to 60%. It will help manufacture not only Gilberts’ MFS units, but a variety of its penthouses, swirls, diffusers, louvres and dampers.
As well as the new manufacturing technology, Gilberts has already this year expanded its warehousing capacity. It is also specifically designing new products to be more modular in format, to optimise efficiency in range offerings.

Combined, the elements achieve a strategy that will enable the company to continue to deliver what customers desire, within their required timeframes.
