Aggregate Industries has demonstrated its strong passion to combating modern slavery and creating an ethical business by hosting a Supplier Day.
The event, which is taking place on November 8th, is the first of its kind to be held by the major player in the construction and infrastructure industry, who’s headquarters are at Bardon Hill, Leicestershire.
In Aggregate Industries’ position as one of the founding partners of the Supply Chain Sustainability School (SCSS), they work with other leading businesses to share best practices and provide assistance, in order to improve levels of performance across the construction supply chain.
The company will host subcontractors from its surfacing division and suppliers of load and haul vehicles, whilst Helen Carter, from the SCSS, will be putting on a modern slavery workshop, giving essential advice on how to combat this ever-growing problem.
Discussions will also take place, focusing on industry-wide issues, including drug and alcohol requirements and how to come together to tackle these.
Head of Sustainability at Aggregate Industries, Donna Hunt, comments: “A sustainable supply chain is critical to the success of our organisation as a whole. How can we be truly sustainable if the businesses that constitute our supply chain aren’t?
“Good supplier engagement is key to achieving transparency, better communication, gaining performance data to support our sustainability credentials.
“Our supplier engagement days are invaluable opportunities for us to share our vision, our values and to clarify our expectations of our suppliers.
“These discussions help everyone understand and address risks, and also share any best practice, ideally resulting in opportunities for improvement or for deeper collaborative working. We hope this is just the first in a series of supply chain focused events.”
