Undoubtedly, poor health and safety on site can hugely detriment a business and the director of Bull Products has been addressing these issues.
Not only can it damage a site, costing thousands of pounds but it can severely injure workers and with construction remaining a high-risk industry, it accounts for a large percentage of fatal and major injuries.
Director at Bull Products, Bradley Markham, has been giving salient advice regarding the protection of workers and your site, whilst ensuring injuries are scarce.
He says it is essential to undergo a thorough risk assessment whenever a new job is carried out on a site, as doing this will ensure any hazards involved will be raised ahead of work being carried out, allowing appropriate measures to be put in place to tackle the risks going forward.
Bradley also says it is vital workers are fully trained in terms of health and safety on site, so any potential hazards can be addressed. He stresses the importance of staff knowing how to act in an emergency and them being aware of the steps they need to take to protect themselves and others.
Supervision when training is key, whilst all staff must be up-to-date on current legislations, he adds.
Another important point he raises is having the correct equipment needed to protect your site and workforce, which will come clear following the risk assessment.
From fire extinguishers to first aid and spill kits, having the right products will ensure you are protected, whatever may happen, he says.
And finally, although some accidents cannot be avoided, he comments that a management system can be put in place to ensure everyone is reading from the same hymn sheet.
Working with your employees to identify potential hazards and ensure areas of risk are being managed properly will guarantee everyone is prepared and knows how to act in an emergency, he adds.
