The DuPont™ Tyvek® FireCurb™ Housewrap flame retardant breather membrane has caught many an eye lately, especially at this year’s UK Construction Week.
With safety being at the core of the industry’s agenda at UKCW 2017, keen interest was shown in the advanced Tyvek® FireCurb™ building membrane, with the Tyvek® Building Knowledge Centre on hand to display and discuss its benefits at the show.
With industry qualms now heavily focussed on the various materials and methods that can increase occupier and first responder safety in the event of a fire, the Tyvek® FireCurb™ Housewrap is particularly relevant, as it is suitable for installation in high rise buildings.
As well as this, it is ideal for use with ventilated façades, and for wall membrane applications in timber frame constructions.
Tyvek® FireCurb™ produces less smoke in the event of it burning, a further advantage for people attempting to escape a burning building, while also limiting flame propagation between floors via the external envelope.
Offering extremely high levels of flame retardancy, the Tyvek® FireCurb™ Housewrap delivers multiple benefits at a reasonable cost.
The flame retardant performance is just one of the many sought after properties of DuPont™ Tyvek® breather membranes, others including long-term wind, effective vapour diffusion, water and weather protection and a significant contribution to energy efficiency and interior comfort.
Tyvek® FireCurb™ Housewrap has been used in international projects, including high-occupancy and public use buildings.
Examples of these are the Lerkendahl multi-storey hotel in Trondheim, Norway, the Crumlin Children’s Hospital in Dublin and the Museum of Fire in Zory, Poland (below).
