Salvagnini Technology investment for ASSA ABLOY

  • 15 Nov 2017

ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, has invested in a variety of new technologies at its manufacturing plant in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.

Two new Salvagnini systems will boost the site’s manufacturing capabilities, including improved lead times, increased productivity and reduced environmental impact.

The investment includes the introduction of a Salvagnini panel bender, replacing an existing older model, and the installation of a Salvagnini L1X-30 fibre laser system.

The new panel bender will enable the organisation’s SMARTform technology to fold doors with increased accuracy and pace, while its MAC 2.0 software ensures folding results remain high. The software quickly helps identify any possible issues with a door during the manufacturing process.

The panel bender will be able to process 90 per cent of the organisation’s total door range.

The new fibre laser system, set for a December installation date, offers the highest standard in industrial laser cutting; combining high speed sheet metal processing with a precise cut quality.

This new investment further contributes to the objective of environmental management set earlier this year, with the company having already earnt the ISO 14001 accreditation.

The new Salvagnini systems vastly reduce the consumption of electricity and oil, resulting in lower running costs.

Production Manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, Neil Chambers, commented: “The new system has allowed us to streamline production by improving areas and removing some unwanted processes that were labour intensive and costly.

“The move reflects our commitment to improving operational efficiencies while investing in sustainable technology.

“In the near future, we believe these new technologies will positively impact on lead times, product design and overall product quality.”
