Industry professionals at the top of their game, as well as the most promising newcomers in the international door hardware industry will be celebrated at the Institute of Architectural Ironmongers (IAI) Awards in March.
The awards take place at a dinner that follows the IAI AGM, an event featuring CPD opportunities for Institute members and an Ironmongers’ Village area with new door hardware products to take a look at.
Nominations for the awards, which can be made at http://www.gai.org.uk/iai/iai-awards-20172018, are made by any member of the Institute and the deadline is 30 November 2017; four separate highly valued awards are to be contested for.
The awards are as follows: The IAI Fellowship Award: for an individual showing a strong commitment to the IAI over a minimum 10 years, who still has an active involvement in the industry and Institute. 2017 winner: Peter Haywood, chair of the IAI south east branch.
The Paul Lewis Award for Customer Service: any individual, group or company showing an outstanding commitment to customer services throughout the year. 2017 winner, sponsored by Royde & Tucker: Paul Barrows.
The GAI Award for Services to the Institute: a current IAI member is always awarded this, looking at those who have made a significant contribution at branch level. 2017 winner: Paul Grech, previously served as vice chair, and then as chair, for the south east branch.
The Promising Ironmonger of the Year Award: designed to showcase fledgling ironmongers who are showing signs of promise, whether they are involved in scheduling, estimating, sales or a mixture. 2017 winner Tom Davis.
Chairman of the IAI, Mario Del Signore, commented: “I have spent a lot of time meeting members throughout the UK and overseas, understanding their issues and enhancing the profile of the Registered Architectural Ironmonger.
“As I’ve visited the different branches I’ve seen first-hand the commitment to continued personal development (CPD) and the encouragement and support given to our younger members joining the industry.
“There’s a lot of unsung heroes in our industry, from supportive managers to those that go above and beyond for their customers, so it’s great to celebrate those people that give ironmongers a good name.”
