Following the Grenfell disaster, CA Group has worked hard to manage client concerns according to Lee Davies, Technical Director.
In the aftermath of the events which took place at Grenfell Tower in June, people throughout the construction industry have been questioning existing projects from developers, contractors, manufacturers and installers.
Offering support and reassurance to clients has become CA Group’s priority, carrying out a full investigation into the products, systems and materials that it has supplied. The company ensured that each component used over the years met regulations, by revisiting archives and records and cross referencing the components.
Lee Davies explains: “This process has been relatively straightforward, due to the fact that we manufacture many of the products ourselves and adhere to the most stringent criteria. Where we have installed products which were not supplied by CA Group, we have worked closely with external providers to carry out the same due diligence.”
CA Group itself uses man made mineral fibre insulation where possible, a non-combustible solution that prevents fire from spreading around the building within the insulated cavity. In addition, the system is tested as a whole to provide a more realistic view of how events would unfold in the event of a fire.
“We look forward to a robust review of Building Regulations Approved Document B around Fire Safety and welcome the opportunity to share any relevant insight as a result of our expertise in the field, to ensure the safety of tenants is given the utmost priority,” Lee concludes.
