A victory for pipe joining with Victaulic

  • 21 Dec 2017

Victaulic has announced the continental debut of its Refuse-to-FuseTM solution, with the new technique enabling HDPE pipes to be coupled with no need for fusion.

HDPE (high-density polyethylene) pipes are renowned and popular for their flexibility, reliability and resistance to corrosion. Commonly used in the gas, water and wastewater sectors, they are usually coupled using electrofusion or mirror welding, which need expensive equipment and qualified personnel with a solid knowledge of said techniques.

The globe’s leading producer of mechanical pipe joining solutions new Refuse-to-FuseTM process makes it possible to couple pipes of both small and large diameters, without fusing, in a mere matter of minutes.

The above image shows Victaulic’s the different pipe couplings and fittings in the HDPE range, designed for a variety of pipe diameters.

The installation is incredibly easy, with only a socket or impact wrench required. On top of this, it is up to 10 times as quick compared to conventional fusing techniques.

Victaulic’s new Refuse-to-Fuse technique enables coupling of large and small-diameter pipes without fusing in just a matter of minutes. The installation is very simple, requiring only a socket or impact wrench.

Sales Engineer at Victaulic, Frank Börstler, commented: “Cooling periods and wait times are no longer required. Once fastened, the pipes are tightly coupled and completely sealed.

HDPE (high-density polyethylene) pipes are extremely popular for their flexibility, long-term reliability and corrosion resistance and are widely used, especially in the gas, water and wastewater sectors.

“Victaulic’s Refuse-to-FuseTM solution has several advantages compared to standard techniques: The couplings permit installation of HDPE pipes in vertical orientations and tight spaces where fusing is not possible.

“Moreover, the installation is weatherproof, preventing project delays as a result of bad weather – be it rain or snow.”
