University of Birmingham strives for accessibility with Closomat

  • 21 Dec 2017

University of Birmingham is making health and fitness accessible to all with the introduction of two, fully-accessible hygiene rooms at its £55m sports club.

Closomat‘s Palma Vita wash & dry toilet, ceiling track hoist and adult-sized height adjustable changing bench have been incorporated to the rooms.

The addition of the changing benches and hoists mean users who have continence issues can be safely and appropriately cleaned and changed whilst away from home. The Palma Vita makes hygiene a given, as a toilet, bidet and drier all in one.

Kelvin Grimes, Closomat’s ‘away from home toilet’ project manager comments: “Without an adult-sized changing bench, hoist, wash & dry toilet, thousands of people in the region who need that extra equipment couldn’t spend any length of time away from home, in case they needed toilet facilities.”

Closomat offers equipment and support services to meet all needs, ranging from a toilet adaption in a flat or house through to an assisted accessible toilet facility away from home.
