The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) has released two new versions of its security glazing leaflets, which are now free to download online, with printed copies available on the company’s shop.
The leaflets, ‘Laminated Glass: Safety and Security’ and ‘Toughened Glass: Safety and Strength’, have recently been revised and are in place to give a simplistic understanding of the glass installed in homes.
Brochures feature information as to why and where toughened and laminated glass ought to be installed.
The revised leaflets answer many questions that homeowners commonly ask, now giving examples of particular markings to look for and what information they should contain.
This means homeowners can check new and existing glazing for compliance to Building Regulations and EN Product Standards for Thermally Treated Glasses.
The most recent changes focused on simplifying the information already in place by reducing technical jargon, as well as giving example markings and updating the references to the newest versions.
The GGF will regularly use the Laminated Glass and Toughened Glass leaflets in order to send the information sought after by consumers.
They will also be invaluable to GGF Members, who will have the capability to send them to their customers, which will promote their products, services and the importance of security glazing.
‘Laminated Glass: Safety and Security’ is a useful and extremely popular leaflet, which goes over what laminated glass is, covering the main varieties of laminated glass, as well as special laminates. Appearance, marking and availability are also included.
‘Toughened Glass: Safety and Strength’ is a convenient leaflet which details what toughened glass is and showcases its flexibility for various glazing solutions and systems.
Also outlined are the mandatory (critical) safety glazing areas where safety glazing materials must be used by law and the substantial range of toughened glass and other thermally treated glass.
