Eastwood Health Centre in Glasgow has experienced major benefits from Senior Architectural Systems’ impressive Hybrid timber aluminium curtain walling, plus its aluminium windows and doors.

Possessing a whole of industry accolades and an outstanding BREEAM rating of ‘excellent’ as a result, the three-storey building, which features GP practices and community health facilities, has been put together around two external courtyards and designed to maximise the use of natural lighting and ventilation.

Installed by Marshall Brown, the appearance of the health centre’s glazing package has been improve due to the addition of timber cladding, projecting timber panels and bespoke timber louvres, helping to provide solar shading and add further contrast to the building’s brickwork façade.

Senior’s innovative Hybrid curtain walling system, which sees the durability of aluminium externally meet the environmental benefits of timber internally, has helped to conjure a hospitable environment.

The ground floor sees Senior’s thermally-broken aluminium SPW600 aluminium windows feature, along with Senior’s strong SPW500 aluminium door, perfectly suited to high-traffic commercial applications.

This significant project saw Senior work with main contractor Morgan Sindall, with whom a long-standing supplier agreement exists, and Hoskins Architects.

Eastwood Health Centre has enjoyed award success, namely at the RIAS Awards 2017, Health Faculties Scotland Design Awards and European Healthcare Awards.
