Sandtex takes products to new heights with London office refurb

  • 2 Feb 2018

Sandtex Trade was recently specified to provide solutions for a Central London office block which has undergone refurbishment.

Specialist abseiling contractors Rubynest undertook the refurbishment of 20 Farringdon Road. A specialist ‘working at height’ team worked from temporary cradles to apply the Sandtex Trade trims system to metalwork on the building’s windows.

In addition, Sandtex Trade Rust Inhibiting Primer Undercoat, Flexible Primer Undercoat and Eggshell X-Tra were used to create the on-trend black finish. The Rust Inhibiting Primer Undercoat was ideal for use on the deteriorated areas of the metal work.

Sandtex Trade Flexible Primer Undercoat was specified for the rest of the building, due to its ability to flex with the substrate and alleviate flaking and cracking.

Completing the look, Sandtex Trade Eggshell X-tra offers durability and long-term protection, in addition to inhibitors to reduce the impact of UV damage.

Sandtex Trade products were delivered straight to site and Rubynest’s team of 10 to 15 abseilers completed the project in eight months.

Tom Lulham, Director at Rubynest, said: “I think what was most unusual about this project was the sheer size of it.

“There aren’t that many buildings in London of this magnitude where you would be carrying out this type of work.

“It got a lot of attention and the feedback we’ve had from the client, tenants and the general public has been really positive.”
