GEZE UK has supplied a raft of its products for a multi-million pound development of London’s National Army Museum, ensuring visitors can benefit from greater accessibility and improved visitor facilities.
The £23.75 million makeover project includes five pairs of TSA 160 NT automatic swing door operators, which feature in the corridor and entrance to the museum’s board room, plus the corridor and two doors to ‘Play Base’, a children’s play area.
These very reliable hydraulic swing door mechanisms are electronically controlled, making them perfect for heavy doors in busy area, thus increasing accessibility, with minimal maintenance needed.
Also featuring are 10 TS 550 E floor springs and 60 Boxer integrated door closers, attached to manual doors across the building, varying from study areas and corridors to behind-the-scenes facilities.
This development was intended to help build a bridge between the British Army and wider society, creating greater public understanding of defence and security.
Contained within the building are some incredible artefacts from the times of Lawrence of Arabia and Florence Nightingale amongst others.
Andy Howland, GEZE UK’s Sales and Marketing Director, expressed his delight at the company’s products used in this prestigious project, referring to it as ‘immensely satisfying’.
Mike O’Connor, Director at the National Army Museum, adds: “The architect’s vision of opening up the building and making areas more accessible has been furthered by the installation of various GEZE products to the highly trafficked areas and doors at the museum as part of the redevelopment. These additions, have made transiting areas much easier for our visitors.”
