Preparing the flooring surface with Osmo

To achieve an attractive wooden floor, it is vital to guarantee the flooring surface is prepared before the finish is applied.

Conventionally, oil finishes require the surface to be sanded extremely finely to make sure the surface remains smooth and to achieve this result, further sanding work is needed.

Osmo has changed this process for professionals; when using its environmentally friendly wood finishes, fine sanding on the surface is no longer required.

As Osmo finishes are massively viscid, containing both oils and waxes, the wood absorbs the finish for a smooth surface, meaning the extra sanding becomes unnecessary.

Prior to sanding commencing, the surface has to be clean, dry and frost-free, with a maximum moisture content of 20%.

It is important to sand carefully before application, starting with a coarse paper. To achieve the smooth flooring surface, the wood ought to be sanded in the direction of the grain.

Moving the sandpaper continuously will stop marks appearing where the sanding machine has stopped.

For edges which cannot be reached, the solution is using a special edge sander. The result is a smooth surface with a vivid optical character.
