Unique tile showroom chasing RIBA London Awards

  • 3 Apr 2018

Schlüter-Systems has announced its recent project with Pentagon Tiles and Ardex has received a nomination for a leading regional award.

Clerkenwell-based project, Porcelain Gallery, by Simon Astridge Architecture Workshop has been shortlisted for this year’s RIBA London Awards, together with 92 other projects.

Chosen from more than 200 entries, it showcases ceramics in a unique setting, incorporating products from its three industry-leading collaborators as well as clay and ceramic detailing by the practice itself.

The winners of RIBA’s 12 regional awards will be one step further on the path to the ultimate accolade of the Stirling Prize, awarded every year by RIBA to Britain’s best building.

The winners of the award will be revealed at a ceremony on May 15th at RIBA, 66 Portland Place, following visits from a jury in April.

The project sees an exhibition space meet tactile samples and a fully functioning wetroom, amongst other areas.

To the rear, four shipping containers – coloured discerningly to blend with the glazed bricks of the buildings in the surrounding conservation area – are arranged to provide intimate meeting rooms.

This project, also known as 45-49 Leather Lane, symbolised an important milestone for Schlüter-Systems: the foundation of its first London hub.

With the capital being at the centre of many prestigious projects, alongside the company’s ever-growing engagement in the area, the project offers a perfect space for Schlüter-Systems’ representatives to meet specifiers and show product solutions in situ.
