Iconic British footwear brand Dr. Martens is launching a unique women’s industrial collection, providing female workers with a choice of boots, with no compromise on safety.
Increasingly, we are seeing more women embarking on careers including construction, engineering and manufacturing, but are rarely supported by the Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) made available.
The choice for women working in dangerous surroundings has commonly been limited, meaning women have worn safety footwear not specifically designed with them in mind.
A survey commissioned by Trades Union Congress has revealed just 29% of women wear PPE specifically designed for them, with a further 57% saying their current PPE has actually hampered their work.
Wearing uncomfortable PPE, for instance footwear that does not fit, can be hazardous, and prevent women from safely conducting their jobs.
The new Women’s Collection from Dr. Martens is sure to help encourage and support females in the industry, ensuring they are given a choice of protection, style and colour for their footwear, with no compromise.
The innovative collection includes Maple, a classic 8-eyelet lace up steel-toe work boot, designed with soft leather and heat-sealed uppers. It’s padded tongue ensures comfort, as well as the SoftWair™ sock liner delivering extra cushioning at the heel.
Arbor is a classic Chelsea work boot with a steel toe cap and soft leather uppers that are heat-sealed with a durable PVC outsole. The SoftWair™ sock liner delivers extra cushioning at the heel and forefoot, with the raised grid pattern promotes underfoot airflow to ensure feet are kept dry and comfortable.
The Women’s Collection is set to be an industry game-changer; available in UK sizes 3-9, the collection can be viewed online at http://www.drmartens.com/uk/c/industrial-womens
