Bull Products has supplied its Cygnus wireless alarm system to the current phase of Hinkley Point nuclear power station, one of the largest construction projects in the country.
The £18 billion Somerset-based project will feature over 5,000 site workers at peak periods, as two nuclear reactors are developed, which will provide 7% of the UK’s electricity consumption.
These devices will be used for the protection of workers throughout the construction process and for temporary site accommodation, providing overnight safety for over 950 workers in the following phases of the project.
The innovative Cygnus system can count UK-based projects such as Elephant Park, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Embassy Gardens as examples of its use.
Specifically designed for use on construction sites where site conditions and environments are continuously changing, a far superior performance is assured than that of the radio commonly found in standard wireless fire systems.
It is perfect for complex which require long distance connections, as well as areas of dense concrete or steel frames.
Matthew Trigwell, Sales Director at Bull Products, express his delight at working on a project of this magnitude
“This development is a pivotal movement for the UK construction industry, therefore it’s crucial that our alarm systems protect workers and the infrastructure until the project is complete.
“As the project progresses, the alarm systems can be moved around to where they are needed the most, thus providing a flexible, cost-effective, and reliable solution.”
