Aggregate Industries expands BIM proposition with new Technical Assistant

  • 30 Apr 2018

Aggregate Industries has welcomed a new Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technical Assistant to enhance its BIM proposition.

Having previously worked as a CAD technician, Adam Cox will oversee the provision of an in-house CAD design consultancy and support BIM project co-ordination with customers, while also providing internal BIM support across the entire business through regular training, updates and communications.

The role will also see Adam assume responsibility for the ongoing development and maintenance of Aggregate Industries’ BIM models and product data templates, with a view of expanding availability.

Due to BIM level 2’s increasing effect on modern construction practice, Aggregate Industries is now providing data capture facilities on many of its asphalt contracting services on larger projects. Therefore, clients have access to accurate data of the product as laid including temperature, humidity and full weather conditions. In addition, the company is also looking to include asphalt product data templates within its BIM portfolio.

Richard Wilks, Head of Innovation at Aggregate Industries, commented: “Ultimately, our objective is to expand our BIM capabilities in order to not only offer the most extensive catalogue on the market and the technical support behind it, but by ensuring it is ingrained in our very culture. Adam’s role is integral to this and with his skills and experience we are confident we can continue to lead the way when it comes to unlocking the best of BIM in construction materials supply.”
