REHAU is supporting this year’s Smart Home Week, where some of the latest smart home technologies available or under development for the windows industry are being showcased.
Currently in the middle of the week (running from the 21 – 27 May), the show, in its second year, is an industry-led campaign focusing on the very best in smart, connected and integrated home technology.
The objective of the campaign is for organisers to inform, educate and reassure end users about the advantages and bonuses of living in a smart, connected way, creating healthier, more comfortable and convenient homes.
Pioneering REHAU is a company already exploring ‘smart’ possibilities and believes supporting the show will bring greater awareness to the role that windows can play in the smart homes of the future.
The recent Fensterbau Frontale exhibition in Germany saw REHAU unveil some of its smart home products, which are either ready to launch or under development.
Amongst these was the iconic Smart Guard window alarm system; with three levels of escalation, this system can be programmed by the user to determine what happens at each stage, starting with a flashing light then an alarm and the final one can be a call to the police.
The Smart Guard window alarm system also features sensors to detect movement outside the window before it has even been touched.
REHAU also showcased its Smart Air product, an intelligent ventilation and air purification system which allows the indoor climate to automatically controlled, and Smart Shading, a new smart way to control the level of light within a home.
REHAU is currently developing cutting-edge technology that would allow window panes to become a touch screen too.
Gareth Jones, Marketing & Technical Director at REHAU commented: “Smart technology is a rapidly expanding area of interest for many manufacturers, and REHAU is no different.
“We brought in intelligent controls, like NEA Smart, a few years ago, and we are now focusing on what we can deliver for our windows portfolio, ensuring they are an integral part of any smart home solution delivering more on comfort, convenience and security.
“By supporting Smart Home Week, we have a great opportunity to showcase this work to end user customers and our trade partners and hopefully inspire them to think ‘smarter’ in the future when choosing new windows.”
Smart Home Week is an industry campaign voluntarily funded by Sponsors and with other companies, including manufacturers, installers, stockists and retailers signing up to become Supporters of the campaign.
