Osmo UK

Seamless surfaces assured with Osmo UK

Professional decorator, JGDecorator, when contracted to renovate a family home’s composite oak kitchen worktop and shelving area, chose Osmo UK Polyx®-Oil to rejuvenate the high traffic surfaces.

This was thanks to its hardwearing properties and aesthetically impressive, natural finish that doesn’t distract from the design of the classic countryside style room.

Jonathan Graham, a partner in JGDecorator, recognised that the traditional oil-based finish that Osmo supplies would meet these requirements whilst, essentially, providing a durable and protective finish.

Preparation of the project began by degreasing the existing surfaces, which was followed by JGDecorator sanding the surfaces to achieve a level finish, before thorough vacuuming to remove the residual of dust before applying the finish.

The premium finish was then applied with a synthetic brush, achieving a deep and long-lasting penetration, emphasising the natural beauty of the wood,

As Osmo UK finishes are very viscid (containing both oil and wax) the wood absorbs the finish to offer a smooth surface, resulting in the extra level of sanding not being needed. Once dried, the finish achieved a rich semi sheen, completing the country kitchen look.

Jonathan expressed his happiness with the finished project, saying that he knew Polyx®-Oil would provide a long lasting, hardwearing and natural appearance.
