Delta Membranes have said that the launch of the ‘Women of Waterproofing Networking Group’ has been a great success, adding its thanks to those who attended.
The launch was courtesy of a lunch, held on Thursday 17th May, where the theme was ‘Seeking to Inspire by Being Inspired.’ Topics of conversation included how did attendees get into the Waterproofing Sector, how other females can be encouraged into the waterproofing sector and had anybody experienced or encountered a “gender” gap in their current role.
Recent stats reveal that a quarter of female professionals don’t currently network and Delta believe networking is essential for any industry, but the waterproofing sector even more so.
Women make up approximately 14% of construction professionals within the UK, however women make up only 3% of waterproofing professionals.
A lot needs to be done to ensure talented women are being attracted, recruited and retained into the full range of roles and at all levels within the structural waterproofing industry.
The Women of Waterproofing Networking Group are focused on developing and encouraging more women into waterproofing sector and for greater acceptance.
Delta Membrane Systems Limited recognise that it is not only right to guarantee people of all genders and backgrounds are able to fulfil careers in the waterproofing sector; but as a business, the society they serve is reflected by them.
As part of its commitment to diversity and inclusion, the company is working hard to increase the representation of female CSSW qualified Waterproofing Design Specialists, with diversity and inclusion strategies including offering unconscious bias CSSW Training at its facilities in Epping, Essex and offer Waterproofing Design Specialist Apprenticeships within its diversity and inclusion five-year plan.
A range of initiatives have also been undertaken, aimed at tackling the gender gap, including supporting and sponsoring the Women of Waterproofing Networking Group and unconscious bias training for all staff members across our business.
