A determined crop of employees from REHAU will soon be tackling the Three Peaks Challenge, in aid of the firm’s chosen charity Scope.
This Friday, a team of approximately 30 from a variety of different REHAU departments will climb the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales over the course of the weekend.
The team will walk 23 miles to reach the peaks of Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon, taking two days, with the walkers sleeping on the journey to the next climb.
Participant Kevin Brain, who has worked at REHAU in Ross-on-Wye for 18 years, commented: “I’ve always wanted to do the Three Peaks Challenge, it will be such an achievement to complete it. And having lost three stone earlier this year I’ve had a real boost and additional motivation to train towards this goal.”
REHAU Communications Coordinator Faye Tompkins is looking forward to ticking it off her bucket list.
It isn’t the first time she’s tackled something daunting task for charity, having skydived to raise money for Prostate Cancer back in 2015.
“I’m nervous about the challenge – it’s going to be a constant uphill struggle, but I’m looking forward to taking it on with the team and raising money for Scope,” Faye said.
Rebecca Hazelwood is another team member taking on the challenge: “The main reason I wanted to take part in the challenge was to push and challenge myself. My family and friends think I’m crazy, but it is going to benefit Scope as well as be great for me personally.”
REHAU hopes to raise £12,000 for Scope throughout the year, having already raised well over a third of this target.
Scope aims to make the UK a place where disabled people have equal opportunities. By 2022, Scope aims to directly reach over two million disabled people and their families each year with information, advice and support, as well as campaigning for equality and fairness.
